Eeri
My name is Eeri. I am a 31-year-old costume maker who recently found inspiration in music after a long hiatus from my craft.
It took the universe aligning just right to get me back into costuming, but after attending one of the 2019 Wasteland, Baby Tour shows, that spark was reignited. It felt like being reborn like I’d been given a gift, and the last year has been a wonder of creativity for me. I’m excited to be working on so many costume pieces inspired by Hozier’s music and to be able to share the joy and inspiration that music has given me with others through costume. This long-running costume series has only just begun. Still, I’m hoping it will be an incredible body of work and will bring not only something beautiful and creative but also educational to the world. Part of the series will be an exploration of Black fashion history, which is particularly personal to me as a mixed-race Black person, and another portion will be a creative amalgamation of Irish and Black American folklore to create a fairytale world through costumes. That’s only a small taste of what’s to come. I have an impossible amount of costumes planned, and I cannot wait to share my next completed piece.
[Costumes pictured are based on the song Moment’s Silence (Common Tongue) from the Nina Cried Power EP.]
