Ugo Njoku
My name is Ugo Njoku, and I am a 20-year-old innovator from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I am the son of two Nigerian parents
I do a lot of visual work in both film and digital photography, and occasionally videography. I also work as a creative director and wardrobe styling work, alongside modeling in shoots as well. I picked up my first camera at 10. Still, I did not become serious about any of my creative aspirations in any capacity until I was 15 years old, when I took a graphic design, photography, and videography class in my sophomore year of high school. From there, I started being around (both in front of and behind) the camera more, which ultimately culminated in me starting my own creative portfolio and venture, UgoVision Visuals and Creative Direction, when I was 19. Coinciding with that was the fact that I am also a college student majoring in psychology and sociology pre-med.
Along with two of my friends, in 2019, we founded a creative venture called Action Awareness in which we provide an avenue and opportunity for underrepresented voices in both school and the community to have their voices amplified. I have a lot of fun doing what I do, and with that mindset, I am working on a lot of different things (such as a cultural documentary as well as more concepts. I ultimately look forward to the day I can run my own creative direction campaign for a brand, whether in streetwear or athletic.
