Bims

My name is Bims, and I am a 17-year-old artist based in England. Being a young black woman, I feel like it is an essential for me to use my voice to speak about topics, issues, and hardships that aren’t addressed on a day to day basis.

Although I can’t speak personally on other people’s experiences, I believe that by expressing my views through my art, it will hopefully reach and educate all types of audiences to make people more aware of the things that occur in society today. Art is so expressive, and I feel like it can sometimes speak what words can’t. I created my Instagram page for my art when I was 13 years old and seeing it grow into what it is now, and for it to be impacting people positively is all I could ask for. I was initially just doing digital art, but I have now widened my skill set into traditional mediums. Being a part of the black community, I feel like we need to change the narrative and stereotypes that have been given to us, however, for society to fully progress, we all need to do our part.
