Michelle Shakwei
Being in love with art her whole life, Michelle Shakwei joined the artistic scene in 2016. She became known as the person behind shaquei_the_artiste. Intrigued with drawing, she taught herself how to blend colors from YouTube videos and watching other artists. She learned the techniques to apply when using charcoal, graphite and colored pencils. Shakwei is constantly pursuing her passion in art and is currently based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Why I do art?
I love how from a blank piece of paper I can create anything I want. It’s mind blowing to me!
Why it’s important?
My friend told me that “Art is God’s handwriting”. That really stuck with me, from then I always see my drawings as an expression of capturing the essence of what God made.
